About Us:

We are a small roastery located in Abbotsford, Victoria.  We pride ourselves on delivering excellent coffee and service to our customers and we always have something exciting on the boil.  (Pardon the pun.)  If you drop by to visit us, and you are most welcome to, there will always be people cupping up a new origin, extracting a new blend or just trying to one-up each other's latte art.  This spirit has seen us have a lot of fun in various competitions.  Our master roaster, Peter Wolff, has over twenty years of experience and we don't know how many medals.  This year our superstar barista David Makin represented Australia at the World Barista Competition.  Luca might have a shot in our annual sack race.

Our Products:

We have a variety of coffee blends and, of course, we recommend trying each one  Wink

Our product lines include:

*Espresso machines from ECM, Expobar, Nuova Simonelli, BFC and La Marzocco.

*Grinders from Mazzer, Iberital and Compak.

*Tea by Tea Drop and our very own specialty range.

*Cleaning products from Cafetto and Pallo.

*Tampers by Coffeelab Design and Espro.

*Aerobie Aeropress.

*Various plungers, caffettieras and cups.

*Bumper tamping stands.

We are also very proud to be the Australian importers and distributors of:

*The Maver "Makin Espresso" prosumer machine

*Pallo coffee tools and cleaning brushes

*Espro precision tampers

Opening Hours:

Weekdays: 8am to 5pm
Saturdays: 9am to 1pm

Getting to us:

First Pour is located at 26 Bond Street, Abbotsford.  The roastery is next door, at 22 Bond Street.  We presume that number 24 is the weeds between the buildings.

Car: There is usually ample parking in Bond Street or directly outside First Pour, but note that Bond Street is no entry from Victoria Street.  If you are coming from Church Street (ie. coming from the city), turn left into South Audley Street, right at Southampton Crescent and right again into Bond Street.  If you are coming from Burnley Street, turn right into Duke Street, left at Southampton Crescent and left again into Bond Street.

Tram: The number 109 tram runs along Victoria street, from the City to Box Hill.  There is a stop at South Audley Street (Houghton's Dry Cleaners).

    Australia Needs YOU!

    Hi all,

As posted elsewhere, David Makin will be representing Australia at the WBC this year.  We would like to get as much feedback for him as possible, as well as keeping him used to performing in front of judges and a crowd, so we would like to extend an invitation to join us for the following events:

    Wednesday 28th May
3pm-5pm Cupping session Traditional and Espresso

    Saturday 31st May
11am-12.30pm Cupping session Traditional and Espresso
    1.30pm Full competition run through

    Wednesday 4th June
3pm-5pm Cupping session Traditional and Espresso

    Saturday 7th June
11am-12.30pm Cupping session Traditional and Espresso
    1.30pm Full competition run through

Naturally, there will be heaps of coffee to taste at the cupping sessions.  There probably won't be much of an opportunity to taste the actual competition coffees in the actual run-through time, but I'm sure that we will either have coffee coming from the Yellow Peril to drink whilst enjoying the presentation, or Dave will make some signature drinks and other things for the crowd.

Note that we technically close at 1pm on Saturday, before David will start his run-throughs.  If the roller doors are down, please feel free to knock and enter through the normal door, which is usually closed.

    Hope to see y'all there!

    Luca

    Limited release, Makin Espresso

    Hey guys,

It's been a while since our last update. As you all know, David Makin won the right to represent Australia at the 2008 World Barista Championships in Copenhagen Denmark. He placed 2nd in a field of over 50 nations.

In David's espresso blend, he really wanted a coffee that reminded him of his travels through Europe and America. His espresso blend comprises of 2 origins; firstly an El Salvador St. Helena for the coffee fruit notes and the sparkling acidity almost like a good quality riesling. He then rounded the blend off with the Brazil Daterra Vintage Reserve for the dry berry notes it adds through the middle of the cup.

Get in quick as this is a limited release and will not be repeated.

500 grams for $30. A must try coffee!

If we have enough left on Saturday 19th, I will run it through my 2nd grinder and pour espressos only for $3.

    Cheers,

    David Seng
